IMO keeping controls on as few buttons as possible generally keeps the controls more fluid then splitting them up on separate buttons

Not true. Keeping them within reach does.

My personal opinion is that if I can't play it on a single device it is probably not well designed and not worth my time. Plus it comes with the added bonus that someone can plan on whatever controls they like.

Just Remember how someone's hands will be when they are playing your games. From my experience I generally have my left hand hovering over the first 4 keys of the letter rows + the space bar and at rest my right hand feels comfy on the number pad or an arc of letters that include K O P L and M, but if I'm playing a game like this my hand id probably on the mouse. That's my hands and my hands are pretty big, but i think that's how i've seen most people hands when at a PC so if you keep them like that it'll keep the player comfy

on a side note...the arrow keys are always uncomfy to use v.v
seams like semantics to me "easy to reach" and "as few buttons as possible"

one limits and complicates, the other simplifies overall.

You may be able to remember that to do something you need to double click or hold a button but it doesn't mean your able to do it well and it takes just as much brain power to remember to hit another button...

btw...semantics..i think semitics is a religious group.
you could let RMB allow a release of LMB without firing so the player can 1) press LMB to see arc 2)press and release RMB to cancel fire and remove arc 3) release LMB without firing. GoW lets you cancel a throw by tapping a secondary button and releasing the throw button and same with Band of Brothers - both involve the arc display too
i appreciate all the input guy's, i think i have enough ideas/options to go with now, and leave the rest up to play testing
