Fantasy / RPG video game story writer
Edit: I am glad to say that currently I am working in three projects and can't take any more load. :)
I am a freshman of Minnesota State University Moorhead. My major is Physics with Astronomy Concentration and my minor is English with Creative Writing Concentration. I am an international student from Bangladesh, but I do believe I have an excellent grasp on English.
I want to "volunteer" for a video game project. Since I am new, I am hoping someone new like me will pick me up. I can help with story development, world development, dialogues, narration. I would especially prefer to get involved with a fantasy/RPG game. I can work alone if needed, but I am assuming that working part of a creative group will yield the most efficient results.
In my pastime, I like writing short stories, although I do not yet have the fortune to claim that I've had some of my work published (I simply never tried, but I definitely should to prove my worth). I have also been working on my novel for quite a while. The basic plots of the first few books have been sketched out and now I'm focusing on world building. As such, I've read a few books on the said topic. My most recent read has been "Writer's Complete Fantasy Reference".
I am also doing freelance writing for various blogs and webmasters. Recently I've been hired by the webmaster of www.worldofpwnage.com, where you can find my articles written under the name of "Murshid 'Legendary Hero' Saqlain". The articles I write there are mainly related to FPS gaming and computer hardware important for gamers, but I write other gaming reviews too.
My favorite ways to pass time are by playing video games and reading books. I enjoy movies too, but not as much as the former activities.
Over the years, I've found inspiration from writers like Anne Rice (I've read the first three Vampire Chronicles Books so far), J.R.R. Tolkien (The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings are greater than Greek epics, but I've yet to get my hands on Silmarillion; in my opinion, Sam is under appreciated), Neil Gaiman (American Gods, anyone? Or perhaps the Sandman graphics novel series?) and Terry Prachett (Everyone loves the Discworld series, right?). Good Omens is a book I highly enjoyed reading which was coincidentally written by two of my favorite authors, Terry Prachett and Neil Gaiman. I've also read and found intensely entertaining the graphic novel series, Lucifer.
I've been playing video games ever since I was a child, but I am assuming most people here have been too. My very first games were Doom 2 and Prince of Persia. Ever since I have probably played hundreds of games. I've found a huge amount of inspiration from story driven video games like the Shining Force (it's a Sega MegaDrive game), Heroes of Might and Magic series, Prince of Persia trilogy, Legacy of Kain series, Warcraft series, Neverwinter Nights, Final Fantasy III and VII, and so many more. I am particularly fond of games where the story keeps the gamers enthralled rather than sheer visual pleasure. RPG is my most loved genre, but as I had just said, if there's a good story, I'll play and love any game.
I love movies which probably everyone loves: anything to do with Star Wars (movies, books, graphic novels, games, you name it), The Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy, The Lord of the Rings (I believe the movie did justice to the books, unlike other book to movie adaptations), Troy, 300, Batman Begins and Dark Knight.
I live in Minnesota and thus the CST zone. I am generally online from 5pm onwards in weekdays and mostly available in weekends.
If anyone is interested please email me. If you want samples of my fiction writing, I can send them through email after you've contacted me. Thanks a lot for reading through.

Any samples or hand outs? Past projects or magazine articles? Something hashed out on the fly?
Is English your first language? Is your interest solely that of dialog? Are you willing to work with a creative team? Do you prefer to work towards a shared goal yet generally by yourself? Are you good with numbers?
What timezone are you in? What hours do you have available? Through what mediums can you communicate? Do you have a home internet connection?
I understand and share your passion for writing, but I think that most people here want to know more than that. Just as my passion for eating copious amounts of cheese would not land me a job as a dairy farmer, a passion for writing that holds no backing is unlikely to involve you in game creation.

I understand what you are trying to say. I must admit that I was rash into jumping into something like this without giving the proper information. I will update this page as soon as I get the time. Thanks for your advice.
It would probably be best to post this in Help Wanted, since what you're doing is offering your services and looking for a project to join. And that's what that forum is for.

My inspirations are the Lord of the Rings, the Warcraft games, the Heroes of Might and Magic Series, Legacy of Kain series and the Prince of Persia Series.
That's a pretty limited Muse, right there.
Ever tried reading a book?
Got a favourite author?
There are some pretty awesome Graphic Novels out there too.
