Simple, what you need is the Sennheiser HD 650. Best pair of cans I've ever had. But make sure you have a nice amp and have a nice library of high quality songs.. you'll start hearing all the artifacts in 128kb/s MP3's and 196kb/s audio. Once you get these headphones you'll never be able to go back.

If those aren't in your budget check out the Sennheiser HD 550. You can't go wrong with a German brand ;)

I second this... I just upgraded my Sennheisers (I don't even bother using the word headphones anymore) to the HD 555 model, and they absolutely rock. I'm picking up layers in the music that I just couldn't differentiate with the older model that I had. Absolutely STUNNING -- in stuff like Gn'R's "There was a time" or QOTSA's "Go with the flow" you can make out the vibrations in the guitar strings, instead of it all sounding like one solid buzz. It's insane.

I am using a pair of the Sennheiser HD 280's and they work great for me. They get great bass response and they're only $99. If you have the money I would go for the HD 650's, but if you're on a budget, the HD 280's get the job done.
