looking for tips on promoting my site

I just recently finished up my new gaming site at http://www.unfungames.com It's a free web game site, but it's not like those other sites that recycle the same games and have no original content. I took all my old original titles and made them web games, so there's a lot of multiplayer stuff you won't find anywhere else. Now I'm trying to figure out how to promote it. I don't really want to spend .60 for every single click I get from google adwords, so I'm looking for more economically feasible ways of advertising. I figure a lot of you have advertised games before and have some suggestions so I'm all ears Without promotions so far I'm getting about 1800 hits a day but I'd like to double or triple that by January with about $1000 in advertising. I haven't done ANY promoting whatsoever so far...all my current hits are just from people who have played my games in the past, and it was never that many...because I suck when it comes to promotion.
Do your games contain a "send to a friend" button/link that will quickly and easily allow people who play them to recommend them to a friend? That is a quick and free way to promote your game, or rather get fans to promote them for you.

As for advertising I can't recommend any particular promotion methods but will just suggest you don't just pick the cheapest system without investing some time into talking to the provider to find out of the people viewing the ads actually fit your target demographic.

Search engine optimisation and social network marketing.

Install Stumbleupon and thumb up all your games. In no time you'll have thousands of hits. I did this with a personal blog, ended up with over a million hits and crashed my server.

Good luck!
Yeah the best method of advertising is to just get you link out there as much as possible without it turning into a spamfest.

Make a myspace page for it. Find already popular websites that link to other game sites and get your site listed there. Go to popular gaming sites that are similar to yours and anonymously advertise.

You could even go as far as to make up reviews for your site and post them on forums and review boards and whatnot.

I heard that someone wanted to sell a product so they started writing up a bunch of positive customer reviews of their own product and that got people more interested in it.

Most importantly, it's just about getting your link out there. Sitting here thinking about what to do isn't going to get you anywhere. You actually have to take initiative and do it.

Heck, even do what you did here and ask how to advertise on other forums. You're advertising your site just from this thread alone.
