How can you [really] make money online?
holy crap, I love your site too. Man it was one of the most usful things I've ever read >.<
I have a lot of scattered free time that might not be stable enough for a part time job and I was thinking about doing a little online working for some extra money. Most websites that I've visited say to do either Google Adsense, which I know isn't the best idea, or to do some affiliate program, which I'm not sure will work too well. I was also considering becoming a web developer. I know some of the basics like html, php and a little ajax, but is it really practical to try and compete with all the C# and web 2.0 gurus? What would I have to learn in order to be competitive? Oh, and I don't even want to think about those $0.20 surveys.
Adsense only if you want to make 100$/month and you will work for them
The affiliate system is much easier. Also you will have to work but when you make a 150$ commission ... well you know it is work doing it.

The affiliate system has more prereqs than adsense. Why not do both if you are able?

You can make content websites - or write content for people. I know "articles" can be sold for quite a bit on various webmaster communities - or you can learn SEO[search engine optimization], or marketing, and social media - and make money by selling your skills to others, or advice.

The only job people will hire you to do online only for an unskilled worker is online transcription. Listening to a tape and typing it out.
However, you've gotta start at the 3rd world bottom and prove yourself worthy to make any sort of wage. Working for $1/hr or so for a year or two before you reach the peak of what you'd make working at McDonalds on the first day. I think eventually you can make a good living doing work like this when you go freelance, but the beginning is very rough.
If you have a degree, there's online tutoring, which pays you a pretty good wage when you have a student to tutor, although they will not pay you to wait around for said student.
Otherwise, it's all about being hired on a job only basis, like making a flash game, website design, or other "advice" driven stuff.
