Hi everyone Is there a website (or other source) that can provide statistics on the current state & size of the PC gaming market? Sites like VGChartz detail the console market pretty well in terms of hardware & software sales numbers but doesn't give numbers for PC. As far as I'm aware Valve don't provide these kind of figures from Steam. I'd be interested in the following sorts of things; -weekly/monthly/yearly/total sales figures (units sold and revenue earned) for recent individual games, including games purchased from retail (i.e. boxed) and online (e.g Steam) -number of pc gamers (worldwide and per territory) -details on the average system spec for the current PC gamer -any other relevant sales & marketing stats (e.g. breakdown of sales % per genre, details on the demographics, etc) Many thanks Matt

Check publicly traded publishers' quarterly investor reports for this information (probably not available on a weekly basis).

Try analysts, such as the NPD Group. Be prepared to spend quite a lot of money.

You can check NPD TechWorld.

Valve publishes a survey of quite a few Steam user's systems. I'd point you to it, but right now it's just giving me a 404. It's great information, but only covers a portion of the market, of course. Usually you can find the information here.
I gave several links in my March 2007 column.
