revealing the name does nothing to devalue the implementation, nor does it tell people how the algorithm works. But the description of the algorithm is available in the scientific literature (I'm not the author): The field I'm applying it to is very competitive and I don't want to give anybody a head start by giving suggestions about methodologies. I'm a bit paranoid, of course.
Either you are paranoid, or you have no business putting your valuable trade secrets at risk by telling anyone (including the partners you are seeking) that you are using algorithm X in competitive field Y.

Maybe you should abstain from discussions in this and other forums completely, since there is a higher-than-paranoid risk that your competitors identify you (for example by your writing style and personal details).
