Robot AI using rat brain cells

I wonder... Does it matter what animal/creature you take brain cells from? Are brain cells universally the same? Could I take an ant's brain, make the cells multiply in a petridish, and then implant them into a robot? Would it be possible to use a more advanced "brain" to teach and develop language? Could we figure out what the cells are telling each other and create an artificial neural network copy which behaves the same way? Man, what a fascinating AI topic!
I rally think so. Arthur C. Clarke wrote about "biots" in his "Rama" series.
