I've done two new tunes and I'm looking for all kinds of feedback from the public to make sure that I'm on the right track of becoming a better composer. These two will be in my new game, Space Renegades 2 Remix, that's scheduled to come out later this year(7/2008). I'm redoing some of the music to give it more of a fun filled 2D arcade space shooter feel. To me, anyway, music plays probably the highest role in getting your players engaged into the game, outside of the gameplay itself. Please let me know anything you can. I can take whatever you dish out. This isn't an ego stroker, I REALLY want to become a better composer, but won't know if I'm doing goo d or not without feedback from other musicians and the general public. The first tune is for one of the stages(Could you hear this over and outer space or land stage?): http://www.unitedmindsgames.com/music/space_renegades_remix/new5_23_08_2.mp3 The next tune is the boss music: http://www.unitedmindsgames.com/music/space_renegades_remix/new_5_28_08_boss_3.mp3 You critiques are all appreciated!
Here's my opinion.

It sounds very "shmuppy" which is good because you're working on a shmup(shoot em up) game. I don't really have anything to say about your first piece, except that it sounds pretty good. Honestly, I don't think it's anything special. It's just "good".
However, I don't think that the boss song is "doomy" enough. I think it needs to be a bit deeper, more foreboding, if you know what I mean.
Also, I would suggest that you have a triumphant stinger piece when the player defeats the boss, as sort of a "reward", and to make the player feel cool.

Just my 2c. I also appreciate your attitude. You're kind of like me, in a way. :)

I think the songs are produced well...meaning the overall sound is of good quality and taste. Just make sure you're hitting the "target." What i mean by that is make sure that your target audience, will be able to relate to your music..that's the most important part when it comes commercializing your music for the public domain. :)

Thanks guys!

Yeah, I'm kinda gearing this toward people that have an appreciation for FUN 2D games. Especially arcades.

The japanese have a big influence on my music as well. I listen to a lot of anime music and games made in Japan.
