Hi everyone. I've been trying -for some time- to make some particles with gimp , but for some reason the final image blends with the background color , and in-game the background remains visible. Im trying to create particles similar to Geometry wars(err..you know , the shinny particles). Here's exactly what i did: Step 1: File -> New image 12x12 -> background color : 255,0,255 Step 2: Created a new transparent layer Step 3: Created a line in the middle of the image Step 4: With fuzzy select , i selected the line & added a glow effect Step 5: Saved the final image as PNG. In game the background is still visible........
after you create the transparent layer, you need to select all and delete the background colour before drawing your line in order to make the background actually 0,0,0,0.

so, step 2.5 = edit->select all->delete
