Cheezy game concept
I'm stuck. I like game programming. I use irrlicht/irrspintz for graphics. I made a networked blilliards game using irrlicht and newton for physics. I made a web cam and chat application. I made a high detail terrain module for the modified irrlicht graphics engine I use. I would like to make a networked game I can complete within a year or 2 that people would actually play. It will be open sourced like all my stuff so it doesnt need to be commercial grade but need some kind of chezzy enviroment people would meet and play in. A example of what I mean by chezzy but fun is the shopping cart revenge a guy made using the irrlicht engine. http://irrlicht.sourceforge.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=25288 I would like to take advantage of what I allready have working 1.) Peer to Peer networking ( sort of ) 2.) Voice over Ip 3.) 3d Graphics engine ( modified irrlicht graphics engine ) 4.) 3d Sound 5.) extremely high detail terrain engine I was sort of thinking of some kind of Diablo style dungeon crawl or some kind of random maze thing but It all seems doomed to sound good because it is small scale but not something people would actually bother to download and play What do you all think?
Nothing cheezy about this little concept, dont say that ;)
Oke its done before but 9 out of 10 games have been done before.
I think its a neat tiny idea that you should definatly work out,
for the practice the fun and I am 100% sure there is at least
a handfull of people who would like to try it out for you.
Crawlers can always be fun especially if they are diverse,
hence the popularity of Roquelike games. I need graphics
but even I like them, so that is saying a lot.
If you can come up with a great random system for map lay out,
item drops, and maybe even monsters and such then it will compliment the
design greatly. Add to that some original as possible classes
and games like this can easily turn into that type of game you
just cant put down because of the unpredictability of it all.
Rant on?!
