Thanks for your reply madelelaw. I'll add a few clauses to the contract stating what you suggested so that the contractor signs them before starting.

I've been reading your blog, it's very interesting. Please, keep on writing, there's very useful advice in there. Rating++.

Thanks much for the vote of confidence.

As to your w4h agreements, I suggest getting a lawyer to look over your standard contract before you start getting people to sign it to make sure you have all your bases covered, your i's dotted and your t's crossed.

Best of luck,

Dunno how the situation is in the U.S. or in Argentina, but generally speaking (based on European experience), contract law is an area where government regulates quite a bit, including what kind of clauses are allowed and what kind are void even if you include them, and frameworks defining what your relationship with the other party is (independent of what you claim it to be in the contract, for instance). If you're in Argentina, you will have to comply with local regulations, which are almost certainly different from (if possibly similar to) U.S. regulations, etc, and if the other party is overseas, you might have to comply with local regulations in both countries as well as international agreements. So the bottom line is, you are best off with a lawyer looking over your contract stuff (as madelelaw has already pointed out :-) ).

Then again, nobody's likely to care about what's in the contract precisely, unless a dispute comes up ^_^;;;

Sorry for my late reply. I decided to wait and see how all this issue turned out before posting again.

So, I've followed your suggestions and asked a lawyer for proper legal advice. We're still refining and working on certain aspects of the contract, but I'm sure it'll be done by the end of the week.

Thanks again for all your input, your answers have been very helpful.
