Things we do in games

We kill stuff, we build stuff, we drive stuff... what are some others?
We raise stuff, we hunt stuff, we interact to stuff....

Kind of a pointless question, isn't it? We can do anything to stuff. Did you mean to ask what we like to do in games? Or what we most frequently do in games?
I sometimes get the urge to ask vague questions here (and sometimes don't resist those urges). Such questions generally don't get any useful answers and knowing that I realize I need to go back and ponder it myself for awhile until I have a clearer idea of what I want to know and ask. I think that probably happened here.
From what I've seen... if the world is important enough... people collect stuff, and show it off. The really hard to get rare unique stuff anyway. Folks like having a symbol of status somehow.

To get to that power player position, they trade stuff. Big important stuff.
We talk to people, we give items to people, we take items or messages from here to there, we use one item on another item or a location, we rearrange items to solve a puzzle, we buy and sell stuff (sometimes with money, sometimes with special tokens), we play minigames, we capture animals to be pets or mounts, we breed animals, we farm vegtables...

I want to help design a "sandpark" MMO. Optional interactive story with quests and deeply characterized NPCs, plus sandbox elements like player-craftable housing and lots of other crafting. If you are starting a design of this type, please PM me. I also love pet-breeding games.

We push buttons.
We tilt sticks.
We point at things.
Wii shake controllers.

Everything else is just gravy.

Haha, "wii shake controllers". Well, we break stuff, we gloat in stuff, we scream at stuff, we rub stuff in each others faces, etc. Can't think of anything else right now.
We explore, we learn, we challenge ourselves.

They can also buy that stuff with RMT. *shame*

A vague question deserves a vague answer. Might as well indulge, it seems like fun.

Primary: We kill stuff
Secondary: We gather and make stuff (usually for the purpose of killing more stuff... and so forth)

And that's about the extent of the gaming experience.

An FPS has only the primary (rarely the secondary).
An RPG and an RTS have primary and secondary.
A Puzzle game is the only one that does not have the primary.
