How do you know this prize ? Are you sure ?
Thank you !

That is roughly the going price for exclusive license agreements.

Google is your friend.

EA/NFL approximate license cost of $300M

The 2006 FIFA World Cup has fifteen “Official Partners,” each thought to have paid €40 million for the privilege. ... Adidas, Hyundai, Coca-Cola, Sony, Visa and Emirates have already paid more than €100m to secure their places for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

There are many more sources for this type of numbers, they just take a little bit of searching to find.
Consider this: many companies who use sports to market their products are now licensing amateur sports teams and players. There's a great article about this trend in a recent issue of Event Marketer magazine.

If you're an independent developer looking to work on sports games, you likely can't afford licensing agreements with major sports leagues. Why not talk with local, amateur, and other minor sports teams about using their names and likenesses? I'm sure they'd love the idea.
