I like the concept of the earth being destroyed and people in the space station having to travel to find life on another planet but, here are a few suggestions:

First, I would ditch the reporter scene where he says "what the!" and then the screen goes black. Ive seen it too many times. Also I think that instead of the war lasting 2 1/2 months I think it would be interesting to see a bomb wipe out the planet immediately and the crew is watching it happen from the space station. All of their communication with earth shuts off, the radios start making a strange sound and they look out the window to see a giant fireball engulfing earth. You see it happening in the reflection of the space station window as they are all staring out in horror. The ship has to leave immediately for fear of radiation reaching into the atmosphere and affecting the ship.

Something like that. Its just a thought though take it with a grain of salt.

Also I would suggest less "explanations" "I didnt get to talk to him cause he works different shifts". No explanation needed. The audience knows you havent spoke with the scientist much. It just clutters the writing in my opinion.

Hope this helps.
I concur with most of what has been said. Either explain everything, and be sure to give out every answer, or keep everything in the blur, and merely hand out REASONS.

Moreover, your synopsis for your intro cutscene is anything but a synopsis. It's written with internal consideration absolutely impossible to convey through images and sounds. So either your manage to get the "thoughts" in the mouth of someone else, or you simply leave them out.

What about showing a group of persons watching a fictional newscast being interrupted abruptly in a darkened room, with an incrustation title detailing where they are, and why? When the first show is interrupted, someone in the dark asks rather loudly that someone change the channel to something else rather than watch static... Every other channel changed to is static too. Light is lit, faces express a range of different emotions, from interrogation and anger to fear. Main character stands up and goes out of the room.

When crossing the threshold of the room, he comes into a corridor thronged with people watching silently through secure hatches. A strong light flashes on their horror-stricken faces. Someone breaks into hysterics. Main character approaches from a hatch, and sees Atomic mushrooms springing up at every corner of Earth.

Cut to black.

New scene, a superior officer is trying to get the audience to be silent while he explains what the mission has come to. New incrustation of titles. Presentation of your Doctor telling everyone in the common room that since Earth has been clearly destroyed and no one aboard the station knows either why or how, prudence dictates that the emergency plans are to be conducted. Everyone will go into cryogenic sleep and travel to a close-by star where a planet had been remarked as potentially life-sustaining. The automatic systems will wake evryone up on arrival at destination. The superior officer takes back the microphone and orders everyone to go to its cryogenic craddle. Main character follows the flow of people to what looks very much like a hamoc suspended inside a steel and glass coffin, in a room big enough to show dozens of them stacked neatly. Main character undresses and folds his clothes neatly into the small drawer to the side of the glass coffin. He then enters his hamoc in underwear, the top of the glass coffin closes on him, and the last things heard are an electronic voice dying away while saying "operation Sleeping Beauty stage 4 activated", while frost invades the glass panel.

Cut to black.

New scene, main character wakes up in the same room, and notices some cryogenic units have been opened, some others not yet. Walks out of the room and sees greenery from the hatches. Outside view of the space station safely landed in the middle of some green valley.

Incrustation of Title above a show of some local animal life
formerly known on these boards as Fournicolas... But that was before the forums were wiped...

where is old tommy? they will save the day!
I like Merluche's ideas and I'd like to add some.

What if you go back to Earth without knowing it? Everyone (except the higher ups) think they're in some far off planet, and you and some people have been chosen to see if humanity can reestablish itself.

The space station has landed and created some sort of biosphere, where it can stay with no problems, but for a while. As a safety precaution, some cryogenic units remained closed; should the mission fail, or the planet deemed inhabitable, the space station blast off, leaving you and some behind.

You can even create 2 endings.
1) You succeed --> Earth is habitable and civilization begins anews.
2) You fail --> You're left behind to rot in Earth, while the "good people" (the ones not awaken and the higher ups) go off to look for another planet.
