How about a game that starts out shortly after the player is sentenced to life in prison at a prison? There could be some AI dudes that hang out in the yard, some guards that try to catch the prisoner doing illegal things inside the prison (like drugs, murder, etc..., which ironically just result in solitary confinement), and uh, I guess the goal would be to escape, since prison life is pretty boring. There could even be an epic storyline told by NPC Prisoners and Prison Guards and Prison Staffers about a big riot where everybody escapes and turns into pirates that raid the local town. Alternatively, you could have a solitary confinement game that takes place inside a secure "safety" cell. It would be pretty easy to program. A guard would put some food inside a slot every once in a while. There would be no way to escape. This game would be pretty easy to build. :)

as for the first idea, it's not bad. But I don't think realism is the way to go on that. I would say have some story going on already. Something sinister that's happening there. That's where you get your plot from. A realistic prison game would be pretty boring

how about a ground-hog's day scenario where you keep waking up in prison. Every day you try to escape, but get shot down by the guards, until you discover the perfect formula to break out.

:) looks to me like "Prison Break" (TV show).

the game could be in 2 parts. in the first one your character is not in the prison (yet) but he knows (from where?! :)) that he is going down . so he is doing things which will help him later to espace from the prison . the second part is in the prison . and depending on your play in the first section there should be multiple ways to escape from it . (one could be serving your sentence for example, if u want to wait that much long :))

Side not though, ye a larger plot could put the player in the position of "good guy" and that's always popular..
