Alrighty then, time to get down to the nitty-gritty:
I am in need of plenty of stories for the small quests in an MMORPG. This game is looking to have a LOT of realism, it will cover all types of terrain and have a lot of different types of game play including combat, crafting, and sailing. I need ideas that will fall under all of these, mostly combat but the other two are big too.
The worlds name is Regias, it's a mid-late medieval era fantasy games. Guns and Cannons have been discovered and mainly implemented navally but they are extremely in-accurate. Magic does exist in this world and most animals are based on real creatures or those out of actual mythology. All story ideas will help me out in some way I'm sure. Here's some basic info about the world:
Berusa- Berusa endured a horrible dark age, plague swept across the land, scientific discovery stopped completely, and the country fell to the bottom culturally. Thirty years ago however, a man named Barra Morgan came to power and with him came miraculous change.
Morgan pulled the country out of its stupor and pushed it into a renaissance of sorts. Everything went well for the twenty-five years he was in power. Unfortunately, Morgan recently met his untimely death by assassination. With no proclaimed successor to the thrown the country split into four parts. Fearful of dipping into another dark age, the people quickly pushed forth anyone they could to lead.
Four men; Karan Jala, Haker Sent, Barra Sams, and Jent Arma were chosen by their people to lead, but no single choice could be made. Soon the country tore into four parts, each lead by a different heir and each vying for power. Karan Jala cut a deal with the Garians and soon the northern province controlled by Jent fell to the two. The land he once controlled was split between the two.
But the Garians had conquered the land so easily that they decided to go on. The Villarians fallowed suit. Soon the lands of the once proud Berusa fell nearly to anarchy, their boarders shrinking quickly at the hands of the two attacking nations. The three would be kings now face not only each other but two full countries as well, and civil disorder is common. The fate of old Berusa is unknown, only time will tell if the country would see the next decade.
Garia- Considered by the rest of the world to be barbarians, the Garian peoples are extremely warlike and honor driven. The male dominant society is extremely vulgar, cruel, and heavily oriented towards drinking large sums of alcohol. Their king, Akres Jaganok, is a massive brute of a man with an axe for a hand and a short temper, an ideal Garian. Jaganok has a special hatred for magical abilities in others and has even made it illegal to cast spells in public.
With the recent fall of Berusa, Jaganok took advantage of the situation and sided with Karan Jala, one of the warlords of the torn land. After conquering the northeastern portion of the country he decided to forget his deal with Jala and take the entire country for himself. The decision threw the world into chaos as soon the Villarians did the same.
Now Jaganok faces possible war with the Villarians as well as the three warlords, and though the land is ripe for the picking, his forces are spread thin. Garia is also lacking in natural resources and Villarian merchants are their main suppliers now that Berusa has fallen. And to make matters worse, bandit activity around the once dormant marauder city of Karas has reached an all-time high. With most of his forces on the boarders, few can defend the cities interior cities, the people grow weary and Jaganok is being rash, trying to win the war quickly so he can turn his attention to domestic affairs.
The Garians live in a highly mountainous region low in natural resources except for metals. They export this metal in exchange for food from other countries and the bandit issue is causing major problems.
Ssima- The Ssiman peoples are a peaceful race, focusing more on cultural, scientific, and magical studies than on military might. Though they are hated by the Garians for their meekness, this attitude has kept them safe and sound since recorded time. Their borders rarely change and their leader Ssiarra Jesska is just reaching the age of two hundred and fifty, making him the oldest living man.
Having long been allies with the Berusans, this recent catastrophe has changed little. They’ve supported Barra Sams since Morgan fell and have sent food and arms to help, but refuse to get directly involved. Constant with what they have they’ve done little involving foreigners and have continued, as is their tradition, to focus on domestic issues.
The Ssimans are currently at odds with a highly defended and extremely daring cult of Necromancers and assassins. They have been dragging people off the streets of the cities to kill and resurrect them as skeletal warriors and other undead monstrosities. There is word that their leader is actually a vampire, a race thought to have been exterminated.
The Ssimans live in a very carefully orchestrated desert society, it's road systems are based around the natural watering-holes of the landscape.
Villary- The Villarians are known for being treacherous, backstabbing, conniving, and clever. Smaller in stature than all except the Ssimans, they tend to be naval oriented, making them rather hard to conquer. The peninsula they control of Regias has been lost and re-conquered countless times, but the islands they control have never been touched by an opposing army, this is the extent of their navy. However, even with a navy as powerful as theirs, piracy is a constant thorn in Vek Janas’s (their king) side.
Like the Garians, the Villarians have put taking care of bandits on hold and are taking advantage of the current state of Berusa, cutting in on the lands of Karan Jala and Barra Sams. Their progress is slow but steady, keeping a heavy defense on their recently developed border with the Garians. The two are still at peace, but war is inevitable and Vek doesn’t want to be caught off guard.
The Villarians live on a large group of tropical, mountainous islands teaming with tribals and beasts.
Karas- Karas is a city of bandits. With strong ties to the Canton Islands, most bandit activities are around one of the two. The city is heavily defended and its location has made it unconquerable so far. Inside the city, gangs control the lawless streets. The only thing resembling a government is the Karas Guard.
The Karas Guard is the most powerful gang in the city and is primarily in charge of defending the city (of coarse everyone helps out if it’s attacked). The gang is extremely exclusive and its members are allowed free reign over the city. Their leader, Marzio Denz, is a ruthless ex-pirate who found the city in ruins 20 years ago. Now he sits on a throne of sorts and monitors the city. Brawls, murders, thieveries, and prostitution are common and there’s nothing that’s going to change that in the near future, especially with all the attention on Berusa.
The recent fall of Berusa has left much of Garia unguarded, the cities are ripe for the picking and raids have become extremely common. There’s little standing in the way of these ruthless bandits and a few towns have been completely eradicated and burned to the ground. Karas was located directly on the boarder of Garia and Berusa. These days the borders of Garia have expanded and it's in the middle of a very weak and recently taken area of Garia. Many Berusan's have fled to this bandit's haven to seek refuge and revenge on the Garians.
Canton Islands- The Canton Islands are a major pirate hub lying directly between Garia and Villary (the biggest trade route in all of Regias). Garia’s severe lack of natural resources means they have to trade with Ssima and Villary. With the land route so vulnerable to bandits there’s no other option other than naval transport. The pirates of the Canton islands are smart however; they know to keep piracy low enough to make sure trade is mostly naval. This understanding among pirates is what’s made them all so successful and not even the Villarian navy has been able to stop them, who knows how long this will continue
Karuse- Karuse wasn’t conquered by the Garians, it was given to them. The people of the island need resources and protection from island tribals after Berusa fell, and after the Ssimans refused to take control, they offered the land to the Garians. The Garians jumped on the deal and immediately sent troops and resources. But when they arrived, the Karusans were in for a saddening surprise. The Garian troops mistreated the people of the island from the beginning, and most of the supplies are being used by the troops. The tribals haven’t been a problem since but now they have new savages to deal with. Revolt isn’t only probable, it’s being planned.
Senton- Senton is an island that has been claimed by the Villarians, but doesn’t really belong to them. The islands dense jungles are home to vicious beasts, horrible diseases, and countless long-time native tribals, none of which are ready to give up the land without a fight. The terrain has made it impossible for them to conquer and most of the southern half of the island remains unexplored. However recently a shaman by the name of Chung-Gek has been using magic to control the minds of the jungles beasts and sending them to hunt the Villarian settlers. The settlers still don’t know what is causing the animals to attack and many are fleeing to other islands.
ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED, THANK YOU!
