Music/Sound effects editor/maker
Hey, I've been a guitarist for bout 4 years this christmas. I've been working on a 2D game for the past few weeks, and it's fairly close to going gold. I mainly need to work on music and SFX. I downloaded my sound-effects off the internet, and I don't want to have a legal dispute (The game is going to be commercial). I am currently looking for some sort of software that will let me edit sound effects and music. I have a mic downstairs. It's just a regular singing mic that bands use, not a computer mic. Could I use that? If so, how would I upload stuff to my PC and edit it?
Edit: apparantly it doesn't work. I tried and nothing. So, is there any software that will let me give it what notes I want it to play and such, like put in the notes of a scale, and it would play that scale?
A very good and free sound editor is Audacity. You can download it here:
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
You can use the mic you have of course as long as it doesnt bring too much noise in the recording. I dont know if the mic has a connection that can be connected to the computer if it is a mic that is used for bands, but maybe with a few dollars/euro's you can be a cable that can connect it to your computer.
I am not quite sure what you are looking for in the last part of your post. Do you want to have the soundfx translated into notes? Basicly make from wav a midi file?
If yes, then this is very difficult to find something that gives good results. I have never tried it but you could check out: http://www.pluto.dti.ne.jp/~araki/amazingmidi/
If this is not what you are looking for then I am sorry and probably misunderstood it :)
Good luck!

These are essentially the same device. If you can plug it in, it should be okay. On your sound card there should be a 1/8 inch headphone-style jack to plug in a micro phone. You should be able to just plug-in the mic. If the mic has 1/4 inch headphone or RCA plugs then you just need an adapter. If it is 3 pin XLR than it's a bit more difficult but still possible.
