Update Java (LWJGL) code Lesson27 link
I noticed that the nehe lesson 27 tutorial for casting shodows does not work.
iv added a link to a source code version that does cast shadows for anyone interested

Under linux there are some problems: When trying to set bpp to 32 it reports that display mode is "null", so perhaps change ==32 to >=24 which should work.
And the path to Object2.txt is wrong, please remove the "lesson27/".
If we had FTP-access to the NeHe site I'd upload your version but unfortunately it still does not work.
