Hi, Can anyone provide me with some more information on how game development companies deal with the work with respect to outsourcing. Do just small companies outsource graphic / programming work or do the bigger companies do the same too? Or do they do everything with an in-house team? What are the pro''s and cons of outsourcing part of the game development process? many companies outsource because they don''t have a particular resource in house.

Pros -
Reduces your overheads - outsourced work mean you don''t have staff on the payroll/taking up space etc etc.
Greater flexibility - You are not tied to doing projects that match your in-house skill sets. You can use external staff with the skills you need and change them for the next project.
Core team remains small and focused

Cons -
Lack of management control
Lack of creative control
Extra admin and communications demands/costs
More complex legal issues.
