Hi! Suppose I want to make an adventure game (something like "monkey island"). Is it okay is the characters will be made of 4,600 vertices? Is it too much? How about 1000? I ask this because i have this model that when i subsurf it, it look much better. hmm... maybe i should show you :) This one is subsurfed: Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us and this one is not: Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us thanks [smile]
4600 sounds lika a little to much for that model. Have you used any optimization algorithm to remove vertices after the subsurf?

What optimization algorithms?
I've just noticed that the teeth (which are not shown in the picture take about 1500 vertices). maybe i should leave them out.

I'm using Blender if it makes a difference...
Wireframe view and polygon count please? :)

Anyway, how is this character going to be seen? Frequently? Obviously visible, or often hidden? Close-up or far away? How complex are the scènes that it will appear in? These factors all have a say in how much faces you can afford for this model. Either way, 4600 vertices does sound a bit too much for this, regardless of the factors involved.

ok! thanks :)
