For the most part VB is not portable, that''s why no one uses it for portable software. You can use Kylix (for Linux), but I''m not sure how good it works with VB code. Like I said before, I''ll always just suggest that you learn C/C++ to make near optimal, portable software.

Kylix won't work with VB at all... There are a lot of differences between Object Pascal and Basic

I'm reminded of the day my daughter came in, looked over my shoulder at some Perl 4 code, and said, "What is that, swearing?" - Larry Wall

After careful deliberation, I have come to the conclusion that Nazrix is not cool. I am sorry for any inconvienience my previous mistake may have caused. We now return you to the original programming

if you need just basic you shoud try Phoenix.
it''s fully object-oriented and very similar to vb
and it''s free.

I was told that Kylix could also handle Visual Basic, were they mistaken ? I know that Pascal and VB are way different, but I don''t use either of them.

Kylix is basically a LInux version of Delphi. Nothing more (except the web applications thing, which compiles Apache modules)
