Please critique my sword!
I started this about an hour and 1/2 ago, and i need some suggestions on what it needs. I'm not the one texturing it, so i need suggestions on the build of it. Thanks.

Well, you have a lot of wasted polys on the hilt. Try doing a poly reduction.
Not sure what you're looking for as far as suggestions are concerned. Could you be a little more specific?

I want to look like something that would be in a popular MMORPG.

Let's put it this way.
What do YOU think is wrong with it?
You can't spend an hour on a prop and then expect people to seriously critique it. You're a beginner obviously, so some advice if you want good crits: do the model, then crit it honestly yourself, then fix or redo the model, and only then when you say 'I don't know how to fix this' or 'I don't know what's wrong with this still' ONLY THEN do you post asking for a crit. Because anything we can crit you on you will learn yourself within a few hours worth of studying and working.

I think you should gather some visual references on the subject before you jump to modelling. A little historical and technical research would also help. You need to figure out the Grip/Pommel/Blade ratio and then you can mess with them to make it more of a "fantasy" type sword. check this out
Also see this for some sword images.
Regarding the poly count (the number of polygons you have used to establish the form, I think you can easily cut down it to 1/3 of what it is.
Good Luck.

Looks like a good start. What it needs is a decent texture [wink]

No offence, but you havent done enough to critique it.
Work on it some more.

as said, work harder on it, until you're stuck, then ask for opinions/help.
however if this is for a game model, a mmo even more so, then you need to not be wasteful with polys.
you have unneeded divisions for the sides of the hilt, and not enough for the actual main surface of it... your blade has 2 divisions going down the center, when only one is needed. your blade has a lot of horizontal divisions, yet they're not being used. you could use the division just below the blade point, shrink it down some and then more it up to give your blade a smoother point. the rest could be removed.
the last comment above also shows you have not looked at (hardly) any reference images. go lookup swords online, then look at yours, it should then be easier to see what needed to be changed.
however, one last bit of advice, is watch your silhouette, you only need polys that alter the silhouette in some way in a 360 view. if this or that poly does nothing for the silhouette, then it more than likely can be removed.
