Idea!

idea 6:
a turn based time travel platformer where you can go back in time and affect the game objects as they were in the last turns, and the game then updates the objects in all subsequent turns. Its a race to get from A to B, and you cant attack your opponent, but you can press switches to make the platforms disappear and so on. Also, when you go back in time you cannot touch your past self or you die. In each turn both players choose a move to make and those moves execute simultaneously when the turn ends.

Idea 7:
Arcade game style RTS where you have a base and it gets continuously invaded by dragons. You must build and maintain your defenses to keep them out. You lose each round when your king is killed, and you win when all dragons are defeated. You build structures by selecting an empty "structure" slot and choosing your structure. You must also control each defensive weapon yourself, they're not automatic. Oh yeah and you enter each new round with whatever you have left from the old round.

Hmm. What about a game that totally defies sense? One that is built only to look cool and entertain? People could run on walls, ceilings, fly, turn into monsters, shoot people with big guns and little guns, blow things up, and none of it would be explained...at all.

You don't even know why there should be a fight, but the entire city is filled with people doing really neat things that people are always trying to find a reason to put in movies.

Suddenly, your girl/boyfriend is taken prisoner! No reason, just go and get her/him back, shoot/mame/pummel/bodyslam everyone you see. That would be awesome. It would be like Mario 3. Wait, why am I fighting? A Princess you say? What I can fly? That's cool. Frog suit? Ok. Fireballs? I can dig that. I can get into a giant shoe and STEP ON PEOPLE? These boots were made for walkin...

Urm, Thats a great idea but i think the OP was after an idea that a noob can implement in maybe a year or two. THAT game idea might be best left to a professional team.

I have a pretty good game idea that would require a bit of smart/detailed/really hard programming. I'd rather not post it so if you want, IM me or email.

You know, I've always wanted to see a game based on "doodles". The main character would be somebody's little stick-figure character they just hastily sketched in their notebook or something. I'm thinking it would some kind of an action platformer, similar to Donkey Kong or Viewtiful Joe.

The plot opens up with the hero stick-figure type character just getting drawn in the "paper world". But the conflict starts when the student's notes written in the notebook (like math and English reference notes) don't approve of the presence of doodles on their pages, so they attempt to drive them away.

Some level design features would be having to jump over tears in paper or erasers. The levels could also be dynamic by having a pencil draw in new platforms occasionally or erase some. Enemies would be the "note doodles" which were just regular class notes, but they came together to form "note/doodle creatures".

A fun boss fight would be having to battle a large unflattering doodle of a teacher while the student takes breaks to add little details to her. The doodle characters would freeze at moments like this, so the student doesn't become aware of their activities (sort of like a Toy Story thing).

The basic gameplay is an acion platformer (like I said before). I think it would be kinda cool if the hero could acquire a pencil at some point and use it as a weapon/tool. He could erase enemies with it or draw holes beneath them. The idea is to make it as practical as possible in regards to interacting with the world.

This entire concept just sorta came to me as I read your post, so it hasn't been fleshed out that much. Let me know what you think, or if you wanna wait for something better... I didn't know if you wanted something more adult oriented or not, so I went with this since it has a more broad audience and you never really specified who your target market is.

Heh heh, that reminds me of this.

As for game ideas, I think a game like Core War would be fun.

Dude you're my hero.

Anyway, Why not a side scroller? There's so much you could do with those. And when done right, they're always a blast to play. I could probably help you with details if your interested. Send me a PM.
