I am starting with that... so, i will gladly appreciate any kind of help. I got an educational license from my university to use for a limited period of time... so, at least, while i can use it (before the license expires ;) ) i want to squeeze it as much as i can. :D Any help to get started? recommended tutorials? books? Just to let you know, i am a web/tools programmer. I have also designed most of the "looks" of my websites, so i have an idea of graphics design tools (like Macromedia Fireworks, Adobe Photoshop)... but never worked with real 3D ones like Maya or 3D Studio. So, if anyone can help, i will really thank you. Thank you very much.
For someone totally new to 3D i wholeheartedly recommend these guys : http://www.digitaltutors.com/store/home.php?cat=5

If you really want, you can go to 3dbuzz.com, they have some free downloadable videos on basics, but those are not really as good. They mostly talk and laugh alot.

Also come join us on cgtalk.com, the ultimate 3d resourse. There is a "Maya tutorials" thread, and most of your questions were, in all probability, already answered somewhere on the forum at one time.
