Help on making animated X file.

How can I make an animated X file? I am short on budget so I have to use Anim8or. Can I somehow make anim8tor export a animated X file or do I have to make the file in 3DS format or an8 format and then convert it? I have tried Conv3ds but it wont export animated files.
