Pokemon World
I am 34 so yes im old!! But I love the idea behind Pokemon, what I really want to see is a MMORPG that incorporates the Pokemon world ideas. A full 3D world along the lines of DAOC or LotR or WOW even Lineage2 where you can move around a game environment maybe tied into the cartoon world where you can find and catch wild pokemon and then train them up learn new skills find items for your pets and yourself. And then head towards main towns to battle in the arenas for badges. Badges could entitle you to move into other areas of the game to catch more pokemon. I think this would be a great idea and if the game was developed well you could earn out of the box sales subscriptions even selling pets via a web site linked to the game more money to be made from upgrades adding new lands and pokemon. This has got to be a money maker... Someone has to do it soon why not YOU! Kind regards Will
Should be fun, but the "Pokémon" stuff is too childish IMO. The concept with a darker and more grown up feeling (and less irritating music) would make a great game (Yes, I did enjoy pokémon, but only the first few version, later on they became much of the same).
Altough it will be hard to make it into an MMORPG.

Probably because Pokemon is a registered trademark and anybody who tried would get sued. :/

Quote:Indeed - there's been someone here who was getting investigated by Nintendo I belive, after they faked a legal document saying they were allowed to use the Pokémon trademark.

In short: It's not going to happen, sorry. Have a search on these forums for Pokémon and you'll see.
You couldn't legally use the original franchise, but the general idea has spawned imitators, and you could be among them. There's that "Neopets" thing for instance, which has various online games built around a monster-training theme.
The basic concept behind Pokemon is definitely perfect for an MMO. I believe IGN had a top ten list of games that should be MMOs and Pokemon was deservedly number one.
Well, the thing about pokemon that would lend itself so well to an MMORPG is that a player would essentially not just be leveling the same character constantly... they would likely have a whole TEAM of characters to level and work with.
Plus, you can always release pokemon. I imagine that if a high-level player wanted to they could just bank their pets and start all over with a new set. Basically starting all over at the newbie level but with the experience to do it right and wouldn't have to worry about losing any progress. Just go pick up their higher level monsters when they need to.
Though with a pokemon team, I'm not sure how that would effect the multi player combat aspect. Since one player basically has his own team, would they really need to form teams of multiple players to do things together?
Anyway "Eudemons Online" is a fee MMO that seems to have some pokemon aspects in it. Haven't tried it out though.

A pokemon MMO could be interesting but I have a feeling they'd have to release a ton of new ones to make it work on a pay to play system. I mean you'd start the game and everyone would go for the same pokemon (the best ones).
I think they should avoid the turn base battle system they have and let players take control of their players (to catch/train pokemon) and the pokemon for the battles.

I'd play it for sure. A more complex and interactive Pokemon game? Finally an MMO I could look forward to!
A problem I see is that the teamwork/community aspect of an MMO would be somewhat downplayed due to the fact that every skill you need would be within your team of Pokemon, so you wouldn't need specialized healers, tanks, etc.
I'd kinda like to see how player-created Gyms would work, that could be potentially awesome...
Yeah, but still pretty much a pipe dream. If they made anything like it, it probably would be geared towards kids, and not be very deep.
