Game whose rights are owned by Nintendo

Is there any hope to producing a game who's rights are owned by nintendo? I'm talking about remaking a classic. What if you recreated it beautifully and had a truly astounding product, is there any chance that Nintendo would let you publish it (if you let them share in the profits?)

Nintendo in particular is pretty aggressive about shutting down fan-projects, remakes, etc. As Kazgorath mentioned in the thread linked by Odin, Nintendo has a blanket request that Gamedev.net not allow Help Wanted threads concerning remakes or any other project containing Nintendo's IP.
