But the P4 is the overclocking king, I'd say. The fastest C2E I've seen was at 5.5GHz - that's what, a 2.5GHz increase? The fastet P4 was 8GHz - a 5GHz increase *cough* double that of the C2 *cough*

No, the are not. Apparently you still can't grasp that clock speed alone means very little. Who gives a damn if the P4 can overclock to 8Ghz. It's functionally useless and it's slower then a Core 2 Duo overclocked to 3.11Ghz.

Face it. The P4 is trash.

Core 2 Duo X6800 (5.526GHz): Super PI in 9 seconds.

P4 (7.1GHz): Super PI in 18.516 seconds.
Can you two please stop this blatant thread-jack, form another thread in the lounge or something to argue about stupid overclocking cpu performance issues and stop killing valid questions about the relevance and expected performance implications of dual-core processors.

If you form such a thread, I'll post my 3.5 cents in it.

Apparently you still can't grasp the fact that I said OVERCLOCKING KING. NOT PERFORMANCE KING. Can you not see the difference? Sure, the Core2 is faster at a lower clock. I know. That's cool. I don't give a fuck.

I said that it was not overclocked by 5GHz. Can you not read words? The 8GHz mark is a fucking record.

@Xai: I already contributed my $0.031415 to the thread. Look on page 1.
the CD2 was overclocked by 1.88.
the P4 was OCed by 1.86,...

And the P4 is the king?

Wtf are you talking about? The C2 was OCed by 2.596GHz, the P4 by exactly 5GHz. If you're talking about percentages, the C2 was by 1.886x the P4 was by 2.666x. Don't tell me that 1.886 > 2.666.

I took the two highest clock rates that actually DID something after being over clocked that were posted.

If all you care about is clock speed that is displayed on your screen, I got a program that will give you a 12THZ computer, sell it to you for $50.

#include <iostream>int main() {    std::cout << "Your computer is...  ...  57THz.  Congratulations!";}

I'll set THAT to you for 100 bucks.
The OP's question has been answered. Enough bickering, kids.
