one frustrating thing with photoshop is its not very accurate WRT drawing or selection, i want to fix this by switching some option on but dont know the one eg i zoom to maximum (1600%) + place my one pixel sized cursor over a pixel to paint it usually some of the color leaks to neighbouring pixels i can select this pixel + do a floodfill or paint inside it, yet still some color leaks outside the selected area, how can i turn this off? ta zed
Use the pencil tool (right click on the brush tool and select pencil), it was brought up in another thread here.

That leaking is called anti-aliasing and is meant to result in smoother images. If you don't want it, uncheck the "anti-alias" box.
But seriously, I'm glad I'm not the only one who has this problem (I'm also glad for the responses in that first thread).

Choose the pencil tool, and make sure you don't have AA on. You're set!

For what it's worth, you can also create your own brushes and use them on non-AA pencil settings for very sharp work.
gsgraham.comSo, no, zebras are not causing hurricanes.

the red cursor is the problem (+ this is after like spending 3minutes trying to fix it), ive made 3 games over the last couple of days + they all suffer this problem, so i better nip it in the bud before it gets ooutta hand

im trying to get rid of the nasty looking white boarders of my flash transparent png graphics

Quote: You also have to set your eraser to 'pencil' and check anti-alias off from the other tools (line tool, bucket fill tool)

well part of the problem is i want to erase some pixels ie replace them with transparency

also is it possible to say draw a circle on a transparent background with the circle tool + for the resulting pixels to either be black or white? ( even increasing constrast afterwards doesnt work)

from photoshop help (doesnt seem to much info on turning off antialiasing completely)

Pages containing: alias
Turning off anti-aliasing for PDF and EPS files (ImageReady)
Opening and importing PDF files
Placing files
Using plug-in modules
Jumping to other applications
Using the Clipboard to copy between applications
Editing styles

cheers guys

Set the eraser mode (Should be a drop-box in the tool settings bar) to pencil.

As for the fuzzy edges, it's because Photoshop seems to love replacing transparencies with white. For this reason alone, I normally do the transparency manually through an alpha channel.

Failing that, try locking the transparency on your layer (Should be a little button at the top of your layer pallete that looks like the background checker pattern) and painting over the edges of your image. Since the transparency is locked, you wont disturb the silhouette at all, so go nuts.

also try changing your .png settings. (interlaced etc.) I had a similar problem before and I remember fixing it via file format's settings.
