Weird Question

Okay, let''s see if I can make any sense with this question. Sometime ago on this message board a person pointed out that their program seemed to go slower when using display lists. It was explained that some video cards can support them and others can''t. My question is: Is it an extension or is there basically some way to detect whether or not the video card supports display lists so that I know whether to use them or to use the standard gl_Begin() way? I hope that makes sense to somebody other than me. Thanks.

There''s no definate way really, it isn''t a real "good or bad effect" matter. You could always have the user select whether or not to use them, and refer them to a list of speed results for major video card with them enabled and disabled.
