I posted about this idea earlier. Heres the thread: Click Me Now I have it fleshed out a little more and Im actually getting started on coding it. Im coding it in 2d and im planning on making it into a homebrew DS game. One day when Im skilled enough Id like to port it to full 3D. The story starts out the same as in the old thread. A hostile alien race start to run out of fuel on their home planet. They find a resource abundant planet to farm fuel from. The hostile aliens (lets just call them baddys)enslaved the native race of the farm planet, Gadia (The Gadians are behind on technology so they are easily conquered). Baddys used the fuel to make a trip to earth and attack, earth retaliates by storming Gadia and taking control. The Gadians are now slaves of the humans. humans are worried that baddys will attack to get their fuel farm back, baddys are worried that humans are planning an attack on their home planet. Baddys strike first driving off the humans but one squad of soldiers is left behind. The game begins. The squad decides to travel around Gadia and shut down all the fuel refineries as a last ditch attemp to protect earth. On the way they meet a native (who can talk english by the way). He explains how after being inslaved for many years his people have lost their religion. You take on the challenge of helping him travel to different towns to restore religion as long as he helps you shut down the fuel refineries using his vast array of powerfull spells. He becomes a playable char. Thats all I'll reveal for now but I do have afew twists in mind. Im not much of a writer but I think the storys ok. Anyway on to the gameplay. Fighting will consist of massive fire fights as the game is an Action/RPG with tactical shooter combat. You will command your main character and squad members to use the enviornment to your advantage. That includes using cover, mounted weapons, traps, and more. The squad will be controlled with point and click commands while your character is controled with the traditional WASD setup. Spells will also be important. There will be healing, stat boost, and destructive spells. Basic spells will become available as you progress through the game. Advanced spells must be bought or found or won from mini games. The native Gadian on your team will be best at the spells because they are tied to his religion but human squad members can study his religion and become capable of casting spells as well. The RPG aspect of combat will be light-weight. The only way to improve youre squad might be buying new weapons... or I might include levels and upgradable stats. Im not sure. Early on most of the combat will take place in baddy infested fuel refineries and temples. And the towns will be peaceful areas to talk, trade, and such. The towns will include local events, mini games, all sorts of shops, and side quests. The world of Gadia will be big with lots of secret areas to explore and hidden things to find. Minigames include short arcadey games(Mabey) and a collectable card game like in some of the Final Fantasys. Now I have no idea if I can actually pull a game like this off by myself but im gonna try. All feed back is welcome [Edited by - ForeverNoobie on January 15, 2007 2:12:48 PM]

Baddys used the fuel to make a trip to earth and attack

Why?

Other than that, I think ToohrVyk's questions in your original thread are very pertinent and should definitely be addressed.

Well it wouldnt be much fun if the baddys were perfectly polite. hehe.

Actually its later revealed that the baddys made the trip to earth just to peacefuly explore. They landed in a populated area and the earth military deystroyed them to pervent panic. There were civilian casualties so Earth blamed the "hostile" baddys. (Theres afew politicians I can think of who actually would do such a thing.)

Oh I thought I answered most of the important ones... I'll go back and check and then update my post if need be.

sounds decent but the earthling are just as bad as the baddys because they are both enslaving the gadians but anways i think that sometime in the game the gadians should rebel
Overall it doesn't sound bad but in my opinion, it doesn't sound great either. I think your story could definitely use more work. It really doesn't have any hook to it, to grab you and pull you into the story, and as I said earlier I think your background story could use alot of work. Remember people won't play if they dont find the story interesting.

Yeah in the end you end up fighting the earthlings too.
