generally to measure progress you need at least 2 samples from different points in time
Uh...He means from nothing to that, buddy :|

I would say it is quite good, however it still needs ALOT of work sorry. About 4 our of 10 (4/10)

Thank you I appreciate the feedback. Perhaps you will comment on my next attempt.
rating of how the mesh looks 2/10, rating of how it looks for your experience 7/10.
i'll take a stab in the dark and say you're box modeling the guy, and only modeling one side then mirroring it, correct?
well, the reason for that large seam down the middle is that it also seems you're applying mesh smooth, however for thsi to work you need to weld/combine all verts staright down the center. otherwise what you will get is mesh smooth applying it only to what it considers seperate models even if they're attached. but if the two attached models share the same verts along the center you'll get a nice clean mesh smooth with no seam down the middle.
for more info, refer to this topic here for good advic when modeling a human.
however, if you're not mirroring then get rid of that large crease in the middle, it is not needed.

Thank you so much. Actually what i do is i modelone half and then i mirror it. And then i drag the vertices so that they seem to cover each other, i dont actually weld them I guess i just never put two and two together and thought to do that. I dont use msmooth yet because I am trying to practice on my outlining. But I do notice that when i use nurms it looks much smoother. Thanks again Ill check out that link now.
What the Crap. That looks so much easier than what i do. I make a cylinder right now and then make trace lines for the 4 main lines in the front and 4 in back and one in side and then i start throwing down verts and dragging. Which gets complciated when u got the front and back there. I think Ill start trying this box modeling extruding next week.

Nice site btw.
Nevermind while i am an advocate for learning how to do things yourself as a mainstay for fully understanding what you are doing, I think I will finish one more model my way and then try that website. Seeing as how it actually has tips on how to do things that I have not been able to guess at like hair. Plus his model looks better.

you'll find it incredibly difficult to attempt to reinvent the wheel in modeling. why relearn/rediscover what countless others already have? following tutorials and other training material is far from being a bad thing.
