honayboyz - How do you find your PCs recording perfomance to be? I'm currently still debating if I should move to a Mac for audio work or not. My current PC is alright - but I find it lacking a little bit. Right now I'm using Windows XP Pro on a dual boot machine. The boot I use has all services disabled except for audio (making it, in lack of a better word - uber faster). It's specs are...

- AMD Athlon 64 3200+
- 1.5 GB DDRAM
- 250 GB HD, 40 GB Backup
- M-Audio Delta 44 Soundcard
- Radeon 9800 Pro GPU
- 17" Samsung LCD
Amazing.. I used to get poor results using the default sound driver when trying to do realtime midi input -> audio generation (700+ ms latency). With my interface I get around 7ms. The only glitch I've ever noticed is if I'm running AIM. Something about AIM messes with the system timer (it makes my games stutter too).

It has alot to do with your software (I assume you're using something pretty decent). I use Cubase SX, its glorious. The only reasons I use it over Fruity Loops is one I can rewire FL right into SX and SX supports my remote. But FL is definately capable of great performance on either of our machines.

I am a Mac hater. I always feel lost in the interface. I would never consider switching os'.

How do you find your's lacking?
Computer/Peripherals:
My (t)rusty old laptop
MOTU Traveler Audio interface
300 GB external drive
M-Audio Axiom 49 Masterkeyboard

Monitoring:
Event TR-8 monitors
Beyerdynamic DT 770 M

Mic(s):
AKG C-900 (the old version)

Instruments/Amps:
Framus Renegade Pro
Fretless RockBass
Yamaha BB-1600A
Andreas Wilfer Double Bass (probably the best, and most valuable piece of equipment I have)
Epiphone Valve Junior
Mindprint enVoice
Yamaha P2500S
Glockenklang 212
And a DIY SID-based synthesizer, aliased, analog filtered awesomeness! (check out: www.ucapps.de) Still need to build some form of casing... kinda difficult without a drill...

And of course: Stacks, and stacks of cables (oh, the horror...)
