OpenGL stop working after a while
Hi,
I don''t know if this has been asked and answered before...
After I use the Windows for one or two days, all OpenGL
programs do not show anything. The Window is still
functioning. I notice that may happen after I run some
other programs, like PowerPoint. The OS I am using is
Windows 2000 Sever with Nvidia GeForce2 GTS in a Dell box.
I have to restart the computer. A big pain right now.
Thanks,
u can try the usual things
update your motherboards bios (if necessary)
try downgrading a few things in the bios eg AGP speed 4x->2x->1x
try new/newer drivers for win2000 ive found the 10.80 ones to be good. i believe the latest official ones though are 6.58

Thanks alot. I can find v6.5 driver from Nvidia
homepage but not 10.80. Is there other place to d/l
drivers for GeForce2 GTS?

Look about 20% down on this page. The 7x drivers have worked great for me (I can''t even boot up in Win2K if I use the 6x drivers), so I assume the 10x ones are good too .

Sorry for this useless post but I couldn''t resist :

What''s wrong about this ? I have to reboot my PC every two hours of intensive work or *Windows* (98 BTW) doesn''t show anything (Oh yes this annoying blue screen).
Perhaps time to upgrade to Win2000 and Linux...

One thing you might want to check is whether the textures are being freed. I''m guilty of not releasing memory after I allocate it in the first few tutorials. Running the programs over and over may eventually slow your system to a crawl.
Yeah, you taught me a bad habit that I luckily corrected on my own . I spent the longest time feeling something wasn''t being done, then I found the glDeleteTextures function and all was well. It''s ok though, I figured it out while implementing my own little engine a while back.
