Hehe... got you! A month ago I posted a topic asking why is my app slow and I got zero(0) replies in a week. I described everything. Later I sat me down to write a really provocative accusations to get some GODDAMN ANSWERS!!! I got them. Hidden surface removal could do it, but I still don''t get it why does it slow down when I approach a cube(my schoolmates often call me dumb ass). Now to certain people: Bruno: I am very well aware of that, I accused the OpenGL deliberately, because I found out that people like to get smart, and patronize suckers. MadKeith5: Thank you! Maximus: I know q3 is much more complicated, that''s why I used it Cobra: Yes I am very well aware of q3 being an OpenGL thing. That''s why I don''t get it. I was keeping my app as bare as possible! And it''s slow. Panic: As I said I am aware q3 is OpenGL runned. I just haven''t mentioned it. And you ain''t funny! tcs: My provocative writing got you directly in the heart, like I knew it would some people. Sorry, I just don''t get replies to peaceful posts. You have to piss people off. (BTW- don''t take this as an insult, but it is "too dumb" not "to dumb") Mja: maybe you had such experience in the past( poor you ). No I don''t share your traumas. I used this piss off tactics when I want some answers I don''t get. This is usually done by hitting a thing that people have for sacred. On Nehe''s forum, this definetly is OpenGL. :=) Orenk2K: Yes this is the way to get some results. AvianRR: I am usually humble. I think you thought "their numbers". Anonymous: You are like Mr. Garrison: You are a homo, yet you don''t admit it and you act homofobic. No wonder you are Anonymous! Manutd: Nehi al te pa bojo èefurji prefukal! Impossible: Thanks man! I am aware, that I don''t know shit, my apps are pieces of crap! No people taught me, I don''t read books(can''t get none), I don''t have steady access to Inet, so I study from Helps and NeHe''s. Even pacman2d I made was slow shit!!
I yeah, I forgot: so let me get this straight: Is OpenGL just a rendering library? Does it do the calculations which surfaces are in need of drawing? Which methods does it use?
(i am a dubass) Thank you.(This time no need to spit on me: no provocation :=)

As everyone can see by checking your profile did you get a lot of correct answers the first time you asked. If you wanted something more in detail could you have described what you did more in detail. Maybe posting some source.

Perhaps are you not very experienced since you did not understood the answers you got. You make a lot of assumptions that is not correct. Obvious do you not understand how little you know. One can also read the rude reply you wrote the first time.

Instead of calling yourself stupid is it perhaps time to change attitude. Even your new post is provocative and you fail to admit that you have done something wrong.

No one here gets paid to learn you OpenGL. It is your decision and responsibilty if you wants to do so.
LOL...

I''ve got to admit, I''ve thought about using that tactic in the past, but I chose not to ( so that I wouldn''t ruin any "clean record" I have on these boards, and so they might help me in the future ).

Seemed to work for you though.. lol.. although I''d advise maybe changing tactics in the future.

Anyway, hope you got all the answers that you wanted..

the answer is 'cause your card is filling far more pixels'

(edit)
also speaking as someone who's engine goes as fast (if not faster ) than q3a. to get the most speed takes 1001 small + large steps, its not something that can be explained in one or 50 lines

Oh my god! I didn''t know my profile show what I posted!
Goddamn!

Ok, ok, I apologize to all OpenGL fans. I still use it, I''m just depressed, ''cos every game I''ve made is slow(Tetris,Pacman,Wolf3d clone).
I had to release some anger. You took it much to seriously.
Anyway, you won''t find me around here anyway.

Have you released the source code to any of your ''slow'' projects? It may help if someone else was allowed to look at the code and see what''s going on in it.

Absolutley, the only way to get good answers is to post good questions. One also has to read things like the tutorials and the red book. Trying to be open for new ideas and not mad all the time.

Everybody is frustated sometimes. It is hard and we do not have the right hardware. One just have to do the best to face the challenge.

OK, that other stuff is history now and your posts should be welcome to the forum. It can help.

In fact, I don''t think so. Even an old card can fill a lot of pixels quite fast. For exemple, a hardware blit of 640*480 is almost as fast as a 10*10 blit. (Ok. It''s a blit, not a surface rendering but the number of polygons remains the same.)

I *think* that for a weird reason, the application doesn''t use hardware, but software filling, which is obviously slower when you must fill larger area.
