list of game publishers
Hi,
I'm about to finish the demo of my game and I was looking for pulishers who will be interested in publishing a 3D adventure game. If you have any links please post them. Also, what kind of deal do you think an indie game developer, like me, with such a title can get from a game publisher? Any information on these topics about game publishers will be very appreciated.
Thanx.

Even with a completed game your chance of being published by a semi-decent sized publisher is below 0%. Even guys with published, successful games under their belts don't get publishing deals with demos or completed games. Adventure games are not big sellers, look at self publishing or going through an online publisher.
Your comment is dry. Are you saying that no one gets publishing deals? If your are confident about what you are saying then give examples and make your comment clear i.e, "Even guys with published, successful games under their belts don't get publishing deals with demos or completed games", is a strong and strange comment to make.

Those are all Frequently Asked Questions. They're answered in these articles:

You might consider an indie-publishing solution, like Garage Games
"Game Programming" in an of itself does not exist. We learn to program and then use that knowledge to make games.

1. You didn't tell us anything about you so we can't answer a question about how someone would deal with you or someone like you.
2. I guess you are an new start-up indie developer (no proven track record with published games) - if that is the case I am afraid that none of the publishers will buy your game or fund it UNTIL it is finished (a demo isn't enough).

No, he is saying that indies with just a demo aren't getting publishing deals (as I did also). There are thousands of experienced development companies with proven track records getting publisher funded deals but for indies the choices are:
1. Self fund the game (work part time while doing a day job) and then self publish via the web or sell the finished game to a publisher
2. Find funding from friends, familiy, the bank or win the lottery.
A good company to emulate would be introversion (www.introversion.co.uk). They started off making a small game which sold only a few units. Because it was self published they got all the revenue and it was just enough to make another slightly larger game. They are now on their third title and slowly growing. Of course they had some real luck because a journalist at a PC magazine found their first game, liked it and reviewed (even though many mags at that time didn't feature indie games). That stroke of luck really helped them.

Even this guy has problems getting a publisher to sign a deal with him on his adventure game, I hope you see that saying that you have no chance is not about being pessimistic but realistic.
But then again there might be very small regional publisher, depending on where you live, who could be interested in bringing your game on retail stores, but don't expect them to take any risks, they will want to see a finished game and not a demo which seems like you want them to sponsor your development.
You should better concentrate on finding a good online publisher for your finished game I think.
