Hi Im looking for a tool to generate faces. I only need them as thumbnail-2d pictures (like you´d use in a IDcard/drivers license) I know about faceGen (but it seem to include very little hair) otherwise it seems a bit cool. Any other things i should check out? E

Softimage XSI has a $100,000 Facerobot plugin, other versions may have some standard face meshes you can fool around with, not sure, but nothing nearly as powerful as FaceGen (which is an absolutely wonderful tool, especially with the Customizer).

ok but with faceGen, is there any libraries or something that adds lots of hair? For now there's nice beard-shading (no big beards) and one (!) useful hairmodel. I will need tons of different cuts, while extreme details of facial shape or texture is not my main concern...

Generally you will need to create hair yourself, buy libraries, or pull it from games (illegal if you are redistributing).
