Problem with opening .DDS files in CS2

Hi, hope someone can help me with a problem that i am having. I am using Photoshop CS2, and saving my output files as .DDS. Normally when i reopen the .dds files, CS2 will prompt me on what size i want to open the file as "Default", "8bit", 16bit, 32bit. I went to click on the check box to Never ask me (or something like that) and now, every single .DDS file is opened as a 32bit file, and what happened is that all the colours ends up looking very faded and whitewashed. Kinda like as if all the saturation was divided by 2 or 4. Anyone know how can i make CS2 prompt me again, or go around this problem? i tried reinstalling CS2, but it didn't work. Tried to reinstall the photoshop plugin, and still it didn't work. Next plan in mind will be to try offering some live sacrifice to the computer to see if it resolves.. :) Really appreciate any advice anyone offer, Thanks.
Go to export a .dds file. In the popup box, there is a menu button called "Read Config." Change it to what you'd like, and then check 'Show this dialogue."

I don't have the dialogue going, and it seems to work fine. I do recall I had the whitewashed images once (when I would export), though I don't remember why... perhaps it wasn't set to Colour Map when I was exporting (in the Image Type dialogue). But if its a reading problem, lets see if that works.
