Web Hosting for Composers?
Hi all,
I'm new to posting, although I've frequented these boards over the last year or two. I'm a composing student looking for collaboration with video game developers, or anyone else doing something visual, really. But video game writing has always been a dream of mine. Anyway, I'm looking for a web hosting service where I can upload my music for people to check out, and also where I can have some control over the layout (unlike something like download.com, for instance). I would be willing to pay, but if there's anything like that that's free, that would be awesome.
Thank you guys very much for your time,
Stanley Myu
The freebies I know of that you can change a bit are MySpace, Soundclick, and Acidplanet.
Otherwise getting your own domain name and server space is definitely the way to go once you start getting "serious". But definitely get things online. Even if you only host the files and post links to them in forums to start.

It's currently changing servers right now (so you'll have to wait 24 hours to upload anything), but ZendURL is a really nice free web host. It currently doesn't really have any templates or similiar, so you're going to have to create your website by hand (assuming you want a website and not just a place to upload files).
Check out Lunarpages, great hosting company. You'll get positive/negative posts about all servers, these guys have great, responsive tech support, and I've had an excellent experience with them.

How does one go about doing that?
