Hello. Anyone have any idea of typical salaries for a visual (concept) artist on a AAA game title? Someone with around 3 to 4 years of non-game experience (film, architecture)? In the Netherlands... I've been talking to a company over there - they want to confirm a salary range before flying me over for an interview... Thank you for your help! (ps. I did check out all the game salary surveys, but they don't cover visual artists at all - just production artists...???) Yrs Miriam.

It depends.
The variables:
- The company
- The project
- The budget
- The artist
So: quote a price that'll do two things:
- Not be less than you can accept.
- Not be so much that they won't want to fly you to the land of Fries And Mayo.
Good luck!

I think starboy is on target there. Per month in euro's 2500,- to 4000,- which is 30.000,- to 48,000,- euro per year. But if you are hired as a "Kennismigrant" which means you are hired without the need of a work permit because you have special skills thay can't find in the netherlands you need to make at least 33.363,- a year if you are under 30 and at least 45.495,- a year if you are over 30. Companies know this, so you shouldn't have to go below these numbers.

The actual salary depends on how much they need you. If they are willing to pay for your plane ticket just to meet you, you may go for a salary in the upper range.

When you are a concept artist you are very close to the action, you are giving the game a face, a design, and that is something they will have to pay for.

I don't know if you need to pay taxes, or how long you are planning to stay here (in the netherlands), stay in a hotel or rent a house... but take that into account as well. Taxes here are pretty high, calculate how much you need per month while staying here, it could just be higher than expected.

If you need to know more about the netherlands, let me know :)

Greetings.

EDIT: added some info about Kennismigrant
