I have a game idea that I do not want to release the details for because someone may want to steal it. Is there a game on the market where the story focus's on when the human civilization has discovered that the fourth dimention is time, and they have learned to manipulate it to their advantage. There is a key to time that they need to find to have complete power over the fourth dimention, and need it to defeat an alien empire who views them as a threat and wants to destroy them. Game title: Time Description: The game is set in the future. There are space stations above each large city in the world[1], and humans have just made a huge scientific advance/discovery. They learned proved that the fourth demention is time, and have figured out how to manipulate it. hence the title of the game: Time. This new technology opens up many possibilities to the human race. They create a set of two vehicles. The names of these vehicles are the CSS mercury one and two. They have the ability to manipulate the fabric of time, allowing them to go at increadible speeds, and warp through time. They warp through time at these high speeds, to an unknown time period, due to a glitch in the onboard computer, and the ships are both spit out into this alien empire. Then the story takes over as you described it. The game begins when they are spit out. The team aboard the ships have to fix the software bug before the empire, who views them as a threat, destroys their ship. They have to fix the bug, and return to earth. In the process, the mercury 1 is lost in the attack, and only the mercury 1 returns to earth safely. The mercury 2 was accualy captured by the alein empire, and they learn of this technology, although the humans do not know that yet. The leader of the alien empire named Aetayn , decides to use the new technology to create an army that can manipulate this fourth dimention. Then they lead the attack on Earth in an effort to destroy the human race, and the story slowly unfolds as the charecter advances through the battles of Sydney Airdrop, the battle of brussles, and maybe some others. Nearing the end of the game, the humans find out that the reason they were spit out at that time period is because for the few hours that they were in the time period of the alien empire, a key to the secret of time was existant. The second to last mission is to travel back to that time period, and harvest this secret that holds the ultimate power. The last mission and objective is lukath's retreat where the humans use this new power to dominate this alien empire. They are forced to retreat. The story ends when the main charecter, in a cutscene, realises that this power is too great for the humans to have, and that if they learn more about it, then it would lead to the human races downfall. Before any more is found out about it, he hides it so that it can never be abused by any race. This also has some loose ends so that it could support a sequal. As you can see, it fits your story that you gave me with some modifications. If we could implement it into the game, it would open up many exciting gameplay possibilities. What is this game? It is the first game developed by Team Pineapple. It is a sci-fi first person shooter. Ways that this game will be different then all of the rest: The game will incorperate the concept of time being the fourth dimention. That means that many of the weapons that the charecter uses will be based on that and the enemy army will have many time-warping weapons too, putting a huge spin on the first person genre. The player will have weapons that can manipulate space-time. The player uses these against enemies and to solve time-related puzzles in the game [Edited by - negativezero48 on August 3, 2006 6:15:24 PM]
i know that this is very undescriptive, and the sticky says not to do this, but I refuse to release the fine details.

If anyone is interested in learning more abour this story or want to help develop it, just e-mail me at tklotz48@msn.com

No offense buddy but I'm sure no one wants to steal your idea. And even *IF* I did want to steal it, who says I wouldn't steal it by asking you that I want more details and have you send it over...
Sounds naive and anything but professional.

i edited my post to have all of the info. Is it sounding professional now?
Lots of FPS games have had time-warping game mechanics of which F.E.A.R.'s time slowdown and Jedi Outcast's force timewarp are good examples. I forget off the top of my head the names of some others...

Either way, what you've outlined is a fiction, not a game. You didn't elaborate on game mechanics that make your game interesting. How do weapons effect time? How does this add to gameplay, why will it be fun to play, etc.

No. It does, however, sound like an unimaginative rehash of cliched science fiction devices with no indication of how it would actually provide anything interesting in terms of a game. Ho-hum, vanilla flavored FPS, my favorite. Bonus points for losing the unwarranted paranoia though.

added the the main post. They will be used in the games puzzles and against enemies. Trust me. They will make the game a lot more fun to play.
If you ask for comments and, instead of describing what you want comments about, you say "trust me", you aren't really interested in discussing your game design.
Maintaining secrecy about your project and discussing your project in public forums or with experts are mutually exclusive plans: choose one, and good luck with your game.

well, i'd say that if your uber short story was the game description on the back of the box i wount buy it. if it were the description on the back of a book i would not read it.

it needs a lot of work. write more and come back again and post it. dont worry about people taking it. we all have our own ideas. seriously. we all could design a sci-fi fps plot outline in 30 minutes time.
