Hi I use audiere for my sidescrolling arcade-game. But if as little as three or four "soundEffect" play at the same time i get high latance (drops from 150fps to 20). Is this reasonable or have i done something stupid (again)? I load with openSoundEffect from 16bits uncompressed wav at startup of program and just do mySound->play() where the sound is triggered. Thanks Erik
anyone? you have the same problem? (maybe noone used audiere)

I don't anyway. Maybe it's just your sound card or anything like it? It cannot handle that or the card isn't supported by Audiere?

What do I expect? A young man's quest to defeat an evil sorceror while discovering the truth of his origins. A plucky youngster attended by her brutish guardian. A powerful artifact which has been broken into a small number of artifactlets distributed around the world. What do I want? Fewer damn cliches. - Sneftel
I'm not familiar with audiere. Typically latency can happen when the file you want to play is too much for the playback buffer to stream instantly. Try converting the audio to a lower resolution (22K, 11K or even 8-bit) just to try it out. There shouldn't be a reason why any machine couldn't trigger a basic 44.1 16-bit sound on demand as long as nothing else were playing or filling the buffer.
