Heh, me too man. Its a beauty, largely in part to the masterful soundtrack of Mr. Hiroki Kikuta. To be honest, I always thought of 'Into the Thick of it' as the 'nature track' as well. The piece itself flows so beautifully and easily...like a slow meandering river at dusk. Sometimes when I close my eyes, I can hear that music playing in the background and I can nearly envision trees swaying and wind blowing in my ears. Not bad! :)
I actually never did beat that video game. Did you?
I also loved the score to Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross. That was a very fun game. :)
Ah...the memories.

Ah memories, that's what good music supposed to bring up! Hail Nobuo Uematsu! And others...:P
So, we're gonna start a new one?

What do I expect? A young man's quest to defeat an evil sorceror while discovering the truth of his origins. A plucky youngster attended by her brutish guardian. A powerful artifact which has been broken into a small number of artifactlets distributed around the world. What do I want? Fewer damn cliches. - Sneftel

Nope! No desire to either. I think the game would become a bit less enchanting after conquering it so I am in no hurry to make it so.

I concur; Yasunori Mitsuda for president.
I didn't get to participate in the first round of this (and hopefully not the last) but I liked the idea that was mentioned about scoring some video of gameplay or cutscenes. I just did a test with my video camera and I can capture gameplay/cutscenes etc. directly from my TV while I'm playing so I could provide some video for us to score. Of course it would be limited to a game that I have in my collection. Unless somebody wants to donate something :-)
Anybody interested?

I'm interested in doing this, but am concerned with legal issues. I would want to make sure we are not violating IP or copyright by holding an unoffical contest.
I agree- I want to do another round as well. I'm going to have some more free time to write so I'm in.
If we do this again though, we need to set up the dates for everything before hand. We never did meet after the fact and compare notes on everyone's versions (at leaset I didn't know about it). If we do it again, hopefully we can set it up like so:
The Unofficial GameDev Music Project (Round 2)
Theme: Joe Bob's Tune
Start Date: 3-4-6
End Date: 5-6-7
Forum Meeting: 5:00PM on 5-8-7
Forum Location: AIM
Something like that where everyone knows all of the details before they join up.
Anyone else interested?

Yeah, I think it would good to have dates like that as well. With the video idea-- I'd think since this isn't any kind of commerical venture and we're just doing it to practice and have fun that it wouldn't be a problem. But that's just my personal opinion on the matter :-). I don't know if it's actually legal or not...
Dates...yes dates. But the meeting's gonna be a problem because of the time zones.
I'd really like to do some cutscenes, but indeed the copyright could be a problem. Why exactly?
It's not like we're gonna sell the scenes with new music. It's just for personal practice.

It may not be a problem- I just want to check before we start.
