ok, you see... it is that kind of comment that irritates me.

If you dont want anything to do with Mac OS, why in the world are you buying an iBook? Get a windows notebook instead... i'm sure you can find a reasonable price online/on ebay.
There was a saying we had in college: Those who walk into the engineering building are never quite the same when they walk out.

maybe because im on a budget, and my freind is giving me a good deal.
there are some linux's that support the ppc architecture.. it may take a bit of fiddling but you can probably get a distro installed..

It's not a good deal if it doesn't satisfy your needs; go buy a cheap Windows laptop somewhere and leave the iBook to someone who wants to run Mac OS.

I've got WinXP running under emulation on my Powerbook, and it's relatively useful for VS2003, but it's nowhere near as fast as it would be native. And Linux is hardly the answer; I have Linux for PPC running native but it won't run Windows programs (WINE requires an X86).

Also, Windows 98 is ancient. Microsoft pulled final support for it recently, I believe.

Judging from your post history, you're using HAM. It will work fine under Intel and PowerPC Mac OS X; I've got it running on my Powerbook and MacBook Pro.
