Win98 se on Ibook
i was wondering of i could get win98 special edition running on a mac ibook. preferably, i would like to totaly get rid of the mac OS, but if not, i can live with it. Are there any disadvantages of having win98 se on a ibook? is it possible? i dont know much about OS' or macs so ihave no idea. Thanks in advance. i hope this is the right forum.....
As far as I know, the only officially supported way of getting windows on a mac is boot camp... which only works with WinXP on Intel based Macs.

there are alledgedly ways to get windows and/or linux working on earlier macs, but I am not familiar with them. I imagine a quick google search would dig up the answers you seek.

ive been doing lots of research, but i cant find solid info, and i dont want to buy and ibook and be forced to use OSX
can I assume, then, that you are buying a used ibook from someone? (they dont sell new ibooks anymore).

It would be impossible to get Windows anything to run on a Pre Mac-tel natively. You would need an x86 emulator, since they used completely different architecture processors.

yah for 150$. Okay, ill explain what i want to do with my computers. I have a XP pc, and i program. I need to be able to quickly get my programs from my pc to my laptop. And i need the same IDE and SDK to work on both of them. also, to synq music and other files. is linux the answer?
Actually, as Rattrap suggested, an x86 emulator would be the best idea. Lets just hope the ibook is powerful enough to run it.

Don't bother. The x86 emulators are just toys and can't do anything serious.
