Should I include my goal to be a programmer in my resume for Customer Service?
I'm applying for a job at Blizzard Entertainment as a Customer Service Representative (GM for World of Warcraft). Although my ultimate goal is to become a game programmer. From what I've read in books and article, and learned from the Q&A panel at BlizzCon, many programmers broke into the industry by starting in Customer Service or QA.
In the resume workshops that I have attended, I was always told never to include goals to advance to another position. The idea was that your resume should be about what you can do for the company, not what the position can do for your career goals. But seeing as how going through Customer Service and QA as a stepping stone into the industry is very common, I'm wondering if including my goal to be a programmer might be beneficial. It may also clarify why I'm applying for a job as a Customer Service Representative when I recently graduated with a BS in Computer Engineering with a minor in Computer Science.
