Newb To Level Creation
Ok I am pretty new to level creation. I have been using Deled for a little, practicing. Some concerns I have with it. When I start using alot of different objects, it gets very confusing and I cant tell where I have drawn and where I havnt. Also, the textures are some times upside down, and sometimes not. I also need to know about textures. My 1st 2 questions are: 1)What free modeling creates the best quality models. Which one is the best? 2)Where can I get free textures that are quality?
It's easy to get lost in the grid, which is why management and drawings are always necessary. I preliminarily sketch out all of my levels then create fully detailed ones later, labeling all of my sections and drawing out a basic flow of movement.
Are your texture coordinates clamped to the surface? If not, moving around your entities will cause the textures to "float".

There are too many to name, though many are named in the sticky at the top of the forum. Milkshape3D (which isn't free, but really cheap) is popular and Blender is completely free and popular as well.

Google "free textures". Whether any you find are of quality or not is up to you and your needs. A digital camera and a basic image manipulation program can go a long ways though.

if you don't want to spend any money for textures, try this site: http://www.vb3d.com/Textures.html ... the textures there were originally to be for Crack.com's game "golgotha", except the company went belly up before the game was completed. If you are willing to pay for a texture collection, there's a nice on at 3Dtotal: http://www.3dtotal.com/.
A rule for using textures: when using textures from a commercial library, it's best to manipulate the textures before using them, to deter "I've seen that texture before" reactio n from people playing your game.
