Intellectual Property License
Looking to acquire a limited license for intellectual property. What I need help with involves the actual request for that license; is there a sort of form or guideline I can follow to do this (i.e. an example request form)? This request will be delivered via email/fax/hardcopy so that there's record of the request, which is a much more professional approach than plan B, which is to simply place a well-timed call. Any other information, examples, or hints/pointers aimed at improving chances of acceptance for the license request based on prior experience would be appreciated. Thank you.
Dear John Ipowner,
I'm writing to inquire about licensing your property, [Property Name], for use in a video game. I don't have a telephone, so that's why I'm writing to you.
Sincerely,

(I don't think it's necessary to have a record of the initial request. I recommend telephone for the first contact.)
Good luck,

Or this:
"Dear John Ipowner,
I'm writing to inquire about licensing your property, [Property Name], for use in a video game."
Then you include your company brochure to perk up his ears, and you give specifics as to which platform you plan to put the game on, and why.
Then you say you'll follow up with a phone call at 11:00 AM on Monday.
Otherwise, just call him first, then if he sounds like he's interested, tell him you can send him your company brochure and a writeup with other specifics of your plan.
Good luck
