What are skyboxes?

Well, skyboxes are large cubes textured with sky images. Like the name says it is used for simulating sky. Imagine that whole your world is inside this cube - skybox. If you render your scene at first you shoud render the skybox because it is beyond everything. So disable depth buffer writes, render the skybox, enable depth writes and render everythig else you have in your scene. And don't forget that skyboxes aren't translated when player move in your world (you don't want your sky to move). Only rotate them.
